Neutering insects (AKA bugfixing)

So, another update (this should be the last one for a while):

https://mega.nz/#!lVAT2DDL!7h8Qi81-B3rnnAx_HSU0d5G4ByXlg5jpDYrz3QpQSiY

And here is the changelog:

The selected spell will appear as an icon in the top-right corner, instead of changing the cursor (hopefully this makes it easier to aim);

Using detect magic will cancel spell selection after it runs its course (now you also get an icon for its duration, so you know when the spell wears off);

Lowered "detect magic" cost;

Increased inhibition loss if you get "involved" with the sailor at the inn;

New, longer scenes involving being a bit of an exhibitionist in the baths (now walking in front the crack of the wall gets more interesting over time);

Bug fixed:

Spells you use during combat do not become active outside of combat after the battle;

Temple's first floor issue with spellcasting (appearing clone, moving to unwalkable spot);

Finally fixed walking off in the corridor leading to the temple (I hope);

The sailor won't throw you on the table anymore when you are hypnotized;

Fixed a bug with walkable walls in the inn;

Fixed a choice menu overlapping with the merchant's name in the outcast hideout;

I hope no serious bugs pop-up after this, it's about time I get working on new content for next month! I'll probably do a test run for a poll on patreon (this will involve only those who donated enough to earn a votes in the polls, of course) this week, but I don't think that should take a lot of time.

Anyway, let me know if I missed something, and see you next week for an update on the game's development. ^_^

P.S.

Thanks to everyone who's supporting and liking my game, I hope it's going to be up to your expectations!

First round of bugfixing

Here is an update, I think I fixed all the bugs that were reported, but if I missed something, do let me know. The bugfix list is as such:

Fixed double name input at the start of the game;

No more black screen if you leave the puzzle in the temple;

You can't walk through the walls in the corridor leading to the temple;

Fixed platform bug in the temple;

Spells descriptions aren't cut anymore;

A few spelling issues were fixed;

No more "infinite sex scenes" with the sailor during a single time slot;

Fixed a problem with stats recovery post drunkness when close to 0;

There might be more things I fixed but I forgot to list them, sometimes I go to fix something right away and don't think about writing it in my notes. Link is here:

Have fun! ^_^

New (and hopefully last) bugfix

Just like the title says, here is another bugfix for the issues that were reported to me and I could reproduce, as well as some problems I found myself:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%201.0c.rag

Here is the link for the fixed web version:

I'll update the links here and in the various threads as soon as possible. :)

Did someone say working gifs?

This is the last time (I hope):

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%201.0b.rag

This should fix a minor problem during Darenzia's side quest (you wouldn't get the scene with Aria if you befriended her, since the game would test the "friendship value" of a different character), and the gifs finally work (thank you so much wifetrainer, I can't believe I had forgotten the workaround), so you can see the game as it was intended to be released, more or less.

The gifs didn't need fixing in the web version, so here is a small update for the quest problem alone (just unpack the files in the proper directory and overwrite, it's just 2 files):

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/TOTDC%201b%20fix.7z

Apologies for the updates rush, hopefully no more major issues are in the game, so I can just collect reports for a while, and maybe eventually fix more typos and bugs.

Bugfixes

So, I got a new version for you guys:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%201.0a.rag

It fixes a bunch of typos, a couple of issues with the final quest (now you can pick up the blue keycard, and you should get to use the rubber chicken, if you have it and you enter the mansion in a certain way), a minor "plothole" in Jane's quest if you don't do things in a certain order, and any other bug that was reported to me *should* be fixed.

Gifs are still busted, so I'll ask it here as well: if anyone has a licensed version of the RAGS designer (best if it's the 2.4.14 version), could they load my game in the editor, save without changing anything, and then check if the gifs still freeze? I believe there might be a problem on my PC with RAGS, and I would like to see what happens if the game is "compiled" on another machine.

In other news, I got a 7$ donation from M.W. and a 20$ donation from J.B., thank you very much for your generosity, once again. :)

Not much else to talk about at the moment. I am learning a bit more about ruby, since I should use RPGMaker VX Ace for my next game, but for the most part I am being even lazier than usual, wasting too much time on Factorio (maybe I shouldn't play that one, though, doing everything properly almost feels like a job XD). I'll probably keep writing on sunday/monday, and of course I'll post something whenever an update is out. Until next time! ^_^

Work! Work, damn it! Stop fighting your creator!

This is another minor update to hopefully fix whatever bugs I still have left in the game. You can grab the update here:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%200.8i.rag

I have also found a way to make the web version slightly better (which is to say, at least you can play it, now!). Thanks again to lig for helping with this. You can download it from here:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/TOTDC%2008i.zip

And this is pretty much about it. No new content, as I have the tendency to add more bugs in the process, and I would like to finally have a stable version, before moving forward. If you find any bugs, pretend you didn't... Well, ok, let me know, but be aware that you'll probably destroy what little humanity I still have in me! :p

Fixed!

All the bugs reported for the public release have been dealt with, so here you go:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%200.8g.rag

As far as development goes, I didn't do very much these days (as you can imagine). I did add some minor things to David Kane, though, so now picking him over Cody grants you the ability to buy some good upgrades, at least (I should add at least a quest from him, but for now this should be fine). I will probably be lazy for another week, and then I'll go back to development as usual.

Also, I forgot to mention this last time, but I got a 12€ donation by M.C. (thanks a lot, man ^_^).

This should be everything, for the moment. Keep reporting any bugs you meet, in case I forgot/added some of them. Have fun! :)

The web version is out again! You can download it from the link to the right, as usual.

New update, bugfixes, easy mode, you know the drill

New version is up:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%200.72.rag

It still needs the 2.4.14 version, which you can find here:

http://www.ragsgame.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=894&start=20

If the forum is down (it seems to happen from time to time), try this link:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/RagsSetup.2.4.14.msi

There is an easy mode and a "I just want to use the travel sphere" mode (if you aren't into cheating, but thought the fights were too hard, and it took too little time to get enslaved by ALICE, try easy mode, and let me know if things improved for you);

ALICE can't enslave you as long as your mental resistance is higher than 3 (this is true even for the normal difficulty);

Changed some parts of the text, to improve (you probably won't notice it, it's fairly minor, right now);

Fixed all reported bugs and typos;

I probably did some other changes, but I can't remember what right now (small stuff, nothing to worry about).

Other than this, I have to report a 10 € donations by C. S. (thanks a lot! ^_^).

It's been a pretty calm period, since I am not developing new stuff for the moment, so this should be pretty much about it. Once the web version is uploaded, I will update the link for that one, too.

Reduce the bugs, increase the quality!

That's my motto (at least it is during the week after a closed beta)!

I took care of some of the bugs (there were fewer than I thought), and changed/improved some things here and there (I modified a mini-quest to be more interactive and sexy, for the joy of everyone, and I changed some of the mechanics in another scene, to avoid Celeste acting a bit out of character).

I got a bit of conflicting reports on the difficulty of a certain part of the quest, and I decided to leave it as it is, for the moment, and wait to gather more opinions before tweaking it (I think it's fine as it is, but then again, I am the author, of course I believe it's fine the way it is).

I also added some other minor things, but the important stuff is the bugfixing and the changes to the scenes I mentioned above).

I think I might tackle another relatively minor thing, next week, before moving onto some more complex stuff: I'll finally add something to do with the sexy lingerie you can buy on Europa 4. This has been going around for a LONG time (as far as the first public release, I believe), so it's no wonder a lot of people ask me about it. Since it's very much a secondary issue, I ended up post-poning the work on it for a long while... Well, not anymore! I think it will be involved in 3-4 scenes, but I'll wait until I actually write these, before talking about them.

After that, I'll do more work on Verania, making it feel more like a real planet, and on the first of a series of quests that you can get there. Then I'll have to decide if I should work on the romance with Piper, Jane's side-quest or improving Kantor, since it's still rough around the edges.

As you can tell, I still have a lot of work to do, and it will be a long while before another public release (I am also writing this because a few people thought I was going to make a new release soon, so I thought I'd clear that up).

As always, stay tuned! :D

More bugfixing!

Hopefully, this is it. I think I addressed all the problems that people had this time around (with the exception of the drinking crash bug, that is a problem with RAGS itself). Within next week, I will start a poll to gauge your opinion on what I should prioritize in the development, among a list of things I have to do. For now, you can grab the last version here:

Have fun! ;)

Bugfixing!

 Version 0.5b is up. It fixes:

The illusionist scenes not working properly;

The monorail not working properly;

A problem with Darenzia remaining in the station after you leave at times;

Rags crashing from time to time when you got drunk (I am not 100% sure on this, but it should be fixed);

Some typos.

I will change the link in the sidebar, too.

So close! So close!

The new release, is SO CLOSE! I am working on a series of scenes that start in one area of the entertainment district (to add something sexy to it, since that district is still basically empty, and will stay that way until I start the next cycle and start improving the relationship system), but that should be the last addition. Then it's a quick (I hope) bugtesting/bugfixing period, and the new public release will happen. I have done some work on a few things on the new planet (some scenes, some events tied to previous choices, etc...) and I think this will be a fun release, overall(at least I hope so, I have been working on it for quite some time, now... -_-). Then some rest, and after that I will start working on it again, possibly after I put together a poll to have some feedback on some features I might add, and in which order I should go about them.

Bugfixing, polishing, bugfixing, polishing... And so on and so forth.

The bug reports started to arrive, and I started to weep in sorrow. Still, things are proceeding well, and I think I have already fixed all the main issues (I doubt there are more of them, given how many I took care of yesterday). I think the next few days will be improving what works (a lot of time will probably be wasted on this one), and add a few new things. Then it should be another private release, then I start working on the new planet, another private release, and (after the bugfixing) the long awaited public release. Then some rest, some planning, and the thing starts all over again... The endless cycle of life game development!
