Topsy-Turvy Tuesday

As mentioned in my plans last time, I wrote a new scene for the game (it's the last one for getting drunk in Solina, you have seen the art in the last preview), I tweaked Yef's repeatable scene with some new alternative bits so that it flows better once you start repeating it and I started work on the magic academy. The scenes with Eloise in the shower got a similar treatment to Yef's, and now there are some slight differences once they start repeating, plus I added some dialogues with your friends at the academy (mostly some gossip).

I have more to do there, but then I'll move on to Valentine and Tiberius in the royal court, to see what's missing there and I'll try to think of something for the noble district, and then I'll check my notes again, to see what other minutia is missing from the list. I'll probably cut from my plans any fully-fledged quests, but perhaps I can add something less ambitious in the process.

Anyway, that's about it for now, and as always stay tuned for more news! ^_^

Back To Business

Hi guys! I have been sick longer than I thought, but I am back. As a result, not much has been done last week, but I did write a scene variation for the bimbo trait and I added the last random event for the ship (both things I had to check off my "to-do" list). I also fixed a couple of exits in maps that still required manual inputs to leave, one of the many early mistakes still around to haunt me.

For the short term, more scenes are on the menu (1 new, and a repeatable variation for an old character), and I have been thinking about what to do with custom orders from the Bazaar (I'd like at least another category beyond furniture and elixirs, but I am not sure about what would be interesting). Maybe I'll do the final pass on the magic academy first, and then return to the other, more "mechanical" things left to do.

That sounds about everything for now! Look forward to the next dev blog to learn more! ^_^

Something Spicy

It's been a slow week this time around: I got another scene for getting drunk at the beach (this one only triggers if you are wearing the sexy bikini), a new scene with the girl at the inn in Zanark (her scenes require Marintas's charm) and I added the option to exit Tarkas to the fast travel signs in the city.

I also wasted some time looking for RPG Maker assets during a Steam sale and sorting some of the music and sprites I already have, and I didn't realize how much time I sunk into it before it was too late. >_<

Anyway, I expect to have a version ready for testers this week, and the release for next week, barring any complications. If something small is still missing, I'll just move it to next month together with the inevitable bugfixes, walkthrough updates and other miscellaneous stuff.

That's all for now! As always, stay tuned for more news! ^_^

I Summon Thee!

Here we are again. Last week, I worked on a few improvements suggested by a player and one of my testers, mostly around summons. Now, your summons also recover MP when you interact with mana pools around the world, and they appear in the menu, so you can use skills and items on them. This should make the game easier, but I don't think we'll need any rebalancing (the game is generally easy anyway, especially if you track down the optional summons). Making them appear in the menu was relatively easy, but it took me some digging around to make sure things looked okay. There is the possibility of old saves displaying or not displaying the correct stuff, but I'll be able to tell you guys more once testers get to try things out.

Another change I added is related to Gaart. I added an item in the 3rd temple that will buff him a little once you pick it up. Gaart really falls behind later on, especially when compared to the other summons, so this should make him a bit more viable (this might need more balancing, but this also will need to be tested out).

There is also a new scene if you get drunk at Solina beach (the amount of scenes for getting drunk there is pitiful, so this should help).

As for the coming weeks, more scenes (usually repeatable ones to wrap up the content of some secondary NPCs) are on the horizon, and more miscellaneous stuff from my to-do list (hopefully I can add one or two things to the magic academy that I wanted to get around to for a while, for example).

This SHOULD be the 1.0 release, for better or for worse (although as mentioned I expect to have 2-3 months with minor updates, bugfixes, walkthrough updates and so on, even as I focus more on the next game), we'll see if I can keep this deadline, for once!

Regardless, I don't think I can mess this up too much even if I tried, so if it gets really bad, we release the 1.0 in March and that will be it, so nothing to worry about. For now though, that's all for this week's dev blog. See you in 7 days for another report! ^_^

The Future Is Back!

This week I wrote a new scene (it should be the final one for Dani), I tweaked/improved (hopefully) the Skylar's scenes I finished last week (I wasn't 100% happy with some details, but now I am much more confident about the whole thing), I did some mapping and puzzle design for the secret area that will eventually host the symbiote, I fixed a bug and took care of some other miscellaneous stuff to end the week.

The hope is still to update the game around Wednesday, but perhaps it's wiser to just make use of the time before the weekend as well, we'll see. My artist got sick, so maybe it's good to delay things a bit and be able to preview all the new art on Patreon for the update before actually releasing it, anyway. XD

I think that's all for now, unless I am forgetting something. Stay tuned for the impending release, and I'll see you guys soon! ^_^

Tuesdays Are Like Mondays...

...And by that I mean I forgot to post this yesterday! My bad. This week I got some work done, in the form of some additions to the walkthrough (incredible, I know) as well as some scenes like a repeatable version of the lap dance, a new scene for the Djinns (which should also work if repeated) and a new scene for Skylar (also with a repeatable variant, so all these series should be finished for good).

As mentioned last week, mapping, possibly work on a quest and on the pregnancy content for the last two monsters I added should also be a focus for this month, if everything goes well. For now, I guess I could consider releasing the update around the 21st, but I'll know for sure a bit later on.

That's all for now, and see you soon! ^_^

Back For More!

It's a new year, time to do the same thing we do every year: try to finish Caliross! For the moment, I wrote a repeatable version of the lapdance scene from the last update. Plans for the week include working on the walkthrough (pinky swear!), adding more repeatable scenes to certain characters that need them, and maybe work on the map I was working on previously some more. The month's plan is to prepare everything I need so that in February I can go for the mythical 1.0 release.

This month should still be on the short side so we are getting a new release on the 23rd, if everything goes according to plan.

See you all next week with a more detailed

recap and plan once I have some work in place for the month! ^_^

Trucking Along

Another week is in the rearmirror already! I made progress on the new map, I made a few improvements to the one I added with the last update, I fixed more bugs, wrote a new scene for the bunnygirl work (as well as a repeateable variant) and I am partway through a new scene for the stripper job. I was a bit sick during the week, but I made up for it on saturday and sunday in part, so things moved at a decent pace overall.

I was considering release a new hotfix, but ultimately the next update seems close enough that it's probably not worthwhile to do so. Next week should be finishing the scene I am writing + another one, and work on the walkthrough while the testers get their hands on the game. As mentioned, it's going to be a smaller release, because of the holidays. Still, we'll see if I can squeeze out some more work during that week, if I feel inspired.

Stay tuned for more news. The update should hit before christmas, so around the 23rd! Mark it on your calendars! XD

Long Time No see!

Man, December sure comes at you fast, if you release an update on the last day of November! Nevertheless, some work has been done. I have a couple of bugfixes, a new secret(?) bad(??) ending following from Hanatora's dream scene, a new option for the schedule (you can now go visit your kids at the institute, as an extra option to the regular use of the schedule) and I have been working on a new map to add another little explorable area in the world.

For the short term, I'll be working on scenes, map and (hopefully for real this time) the walkthrough. The idea is to release the update on the 21 (or around there), so I can have the last week free and enjoy the holidays.

As always, let me know if I forgot anything, and stay tuned for more news on how the game is going. ^_^

November Update

Ignore how late this release was* and focus on all the fun times** you had with Caliross! Get the public version here or at itch.io. Read the changelog here, and feel glad you are not in charge of this project!

*I just said to ignore it! Why are you reading this note!?
**Like all the times you forgot to copy your saves and had to start over.

Quest Archived!

I finally completed the mini-quest! It took more effort than I thought, but we got there. The quest itself is fairly straightforward, but there are lots of minor details related to the various rewards you can get, so hopefully one or two things will surprise you with how they play out. The quest also has a little thing for fans of Sonya, so there is that.

Finally, I wrote a couple of scenes, both involving monsters, actually: these should be the last monsters with pregnancy-related content (I still need to provide some setup for them to appear, but that's going to happen this week).

I am unsure if I want to aim for this weekend as the release, or if I should give myself until next week to squeeze more in for the release, since I will be working on updating the walkthrough this week (finally).

That's all for now, hope you are looking forward to the update! ^_^

Hold Your Horses

I actually didn't get much work done last week, and if you asked me why, I wouldn't even be able to tell you why exactly. Maybe I am tired (scratch that, I AM tired, no idea why), but I didn't feel very inspired. Now, I did finish writing Dominique's scene, I finalized my idea for the mini-quest and done some more writing for it, but honestly it's been surprisingly non-productive. Well, I still have 2 weeks, so it's not a problem, but it always bums me out when my plans get so off-course.

Anyway, last week's plan still holds true: finish the mini-quest, write more scenes, update the walkthrough, then figure out what to do next. Sorry for the non-update, I'll try to make up for it next time!

Everything Is Tiny

Mini-quests get mini-games! The quest got a chunk of writing done, the mini-game and some more writing for Dominique's scene as well. It's not complete, but it's close enough that it shouldn't take much longer. I have also been looking into a couple of quality of life changes, like having a "free" shortcut to visit your kids if you use the schedule, and maybe an option to expand the fast travel in Tarkas (both suggested by a player).

For this week, the plan is to write more scenes, update the walkthrough at least a little, and finish anything I have left to do from last week.

I have been doing some other stuff (like investigating some bugs) but nothing came out of it, so it's been productive, but slower than usual. At least that makes this post shorter! XD

Anyway, more news coming soon, so stay tuned! ^_^

Nature Is Healing

This week I have been working mostly on TOTDC 2, since I hadn't for a while. I am still hoping to release some more preview material, but finding the time is a surprising challenge. Maybe I should steal some time away from one of the weekly dev blogs, and see if that works.

Anyway, I also made some progress with Caliross. I finished updating the map of the forest near Tarkas (I'll have to rely on testers a lot to make sure nothing is amiss). The visuals got a very minor upgrade, maps have been trimmed a little (they were too large for the content, and perhaps they still are), the ugly black borders are gone, some of the cutscenes also got a slight overhaul and other small changes along those lines. I think this one is the last outdoor area with black borders, so it's a relief to get it done.

Other than that, I started working on another mini-quest. This one will feature Dominique if you progressed through her path, and should offer a nice, sexy twist for her fans. Nothing is set in stone for now, but I was thinking about something with more NPCs interactions for this one.

This should be all the important news for the week. One thing I really need to get to, is updating the walkthrough, so that's happening for sure this month. More work on the mini-quest, some new scenes (especially the ones that already have the art complete), and any minor task I can tackle should be a good plan for the rest of the month.

As always, make sure to come back next week to hear how things are going! ^_^

I Am Back!

I am back from my vacation. I returned on sunday, and immediately got back to working on Caliross. I did get sick last week (not from my trip, I simply caught some sort of flu from a relative of mine), but despite that, I managed to get some stuff done!

First thing first, the new mini-quest is finished. If you are far enough in Edith's path, she'll show up and demand you do a bit of extra work for her, earning you a spicy reward in the process. I think the mini-game is nice, even if not too exciting itself, but I went out of my way to add a few frills to it. Once the testers try it, perhaps I'll decide if it needs some more features. Right now, it also becomes a bit of an extra job you can take daily (it doesn't consume a time slot), and it tracks your best time as well. Given how late it unlocks, the money isn't very important, but people might like trying to see how fast they can complete it.

I also wrote a new scene for the Djinns in the oasis. This scene might be good enough to use as a repeatable event. It also uses some of the "generic" art details for hypno/sub content I got last month, which should bring some spice in a handful of scenes in the future.

Finally, I started working a new scene for the cursed painting, I changed/improved a few maps like the oasis and the florist in Tarkas, plus I got started on some other minor things, like new newspaper articles to read at the board in the commercial district.

All in all, I think I made good progress despite the setback. Testing should begin this week, with the update coming this weekend or early next week. Stay tuned if you want more news on what's going on, and don't forget to have fun! ^_^

Slow Shuffle

I have had a bit of a slow week this time around. I fixed a few bugs (as you might have seen with the hotfix), worked on a new job for the board in the commercial district (which will involve Edith), Started writing a repeatable scene for the female Djinns at the oasis (and I also made a couple of slight improvements to the first scene), but all in all it's been a little slow.

It's too bad, because this week I am taking a break. I'll be visiting a friend of mine, so I won't be home for most of it (I probably won't write a weekly report next monday, as a result). I need to take some time off, as I mentioned in september, and I think now it's the time to fly around the world (first time on a plane, actually)!

Anyway, it will be a shorter month for the development, but I don't think it will be an issue overall. I should still be reachable, so I can probably reply to questions, if they come up. Hopefully next time around I have plenty of news to share, but for now enjoy a week without me! XD

Tiny Quest Complete!

The short quest I wanted to add is complete (minus deciding what the reward should be). In the end, I decided to use a new map, and that took away some extra time: the "main event" was supposed to take place in the mountain path where Ginnuk's cave is located, but trying to make sure there were no conflicts vs having a new map felt more or less equally time consuming, so I went for the "cleaner" approach. The area is smaller, and hopefully I struck a good balance between ease of exploration and content.

Other than that, I fixed another bug, but no other major developments happened. I should send the game to the testers tomorrow, and then I can focus on writing scenes and possibly updating the walkthrough.

The patrons-only Art preview and polls should come either today or tomorrow as well, so stay tuned for those! ^_^

Out Of Order

So, this week I wrote a new scene for our snake lady (Mia), I wrote a variant for the masseuse scene (so we have a generic, "nothing happened" one and one where she questions us on the Royal harem), I fixed a few more exits in the game, I worked on updating the maps for the forest near Tarkas to avoid the black borders and to "shave off" some size to the largest ones, which were a bit too much (although it's hard to shrink them they way I'd want, at this point). The new maps might be added in the next release, since there is some work to be done.

Speaking of which, I am adding a new short quest to chapter 5. It uses Crysta for a change, but also re-uses the mountain area near it, so it's a mix of under- and over- used. The short quest is already at a good point. I should tie Crysta to another short quest as well, but that's in the future for now. Once that's done, it's some more miscellaneous stuff, then I send it to the testers and by the end of next week we should have our update.

That's all for now, see you guys for the next dev update! ^_^

Bugs? Bugs. BUGS!!!

Last week I finished Dani's scene mentioned in the previous dev blog, I wrote a new scene for the masseuse (this one is a bit complicated, and will have some variations as she asks you about this or that event you were involved in, to gain knowledge for the League of Merchants), and I fixed a bunch of exits around Tarkas to work on contact, rather than use the "confirm" key (thanks to a player who was kind enough to report a bunch of them). He also found a few bugs which I took care of, so that also kept me busy.

I also did some work on TOTDC 2 and that rounded things up for me. I think I could have gotten more done under ideal conditions, but I think the weather kind of got me, because I felt a bit tired overall and so I decided not to push myself too hard.

Anyway, the plan is still the same: more scenes, a short quest and finishing some content already in the game should keep me busy this week and the next.

Also, I plan to take a week off in October, as I need a break, and I had this specific trip planned for a while. It shouldn't affect the game majorly, but I'll see how things go and adapt as usual.

Until next week! ^_^

This Cow Isn't Dry Yet!

Back to working on the game! This week was a bit short, but I got to fix a couple of bugs, and I am almost finished with Dani's last scene (although she'll also need a repeatable scene after that as well).

This week I'll focus on scenes first, since I have some art that needs to find its way in the game which I couldn't get ready in time for the update. After that, it should be one short quest and more small tasks I have to tackle (like, figuring out one final spell request from the royal wizard, checking some of the repeatable scenes in the game that need some new writing to make sense when they are repeated, figure out if I do want more rewards for completing all your classes at the magic academy, and so on).

I'll try to also figure out if some of these can just be cut from my plans if they aren't important nor particularly exciting.

As always, I'll keep you guys posted as I make progress each week, so look forward to those! ^_^
