Quick update

So, just a very quick report. I am working on the game, even if the usual visits to and from relatives are taking away some time. I come up with a nice gameplay mechanic for the main-quest, which I am happy with (I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, but now I have a more detailed plan, which is always nice).

Also, thanks to Alx, I now have an opening screen for TOTDC! Here is the image (you will also be able to find it in the "fanart" section):

Doesn't it look awesome? ^_^

Also I got a 10€ donation from A.P. (thanks a lot!), which is fattening my virtual wallet (until I inevitably waste it on something stupid, as it's customary for me by now).

Anyway, I wish happy holidays to you all! Next time I should have a more substantial report on the status of the game, so stay tuned! :)

Step by step...

Soooooo... I am making progress in the second quest (I think I am almost done, unless I change my mind again), after a period of slow development due to being unable to decide the best course of action (lately, I can't seem to take a decision and stick with it for too long). The good news is that I have now a couple of good ideas for the shops, which should help speed up the process these days. That's it, nothing really exciting happened this week, that's why I waited this long for the status update. Luckily for you, chaosrevolver/encounterblitz is in good shape as always, and he sent yet another picture for the fanart gallery, so you can at least appreciate his work, if mine remains currently unavailable to you!

I am back (sort of)!

How come there isn't an outcry for my prolonged silences? I want riots in the streets whenever I am not around! ... Then again, maybe not. Anyway, I restarted my work on the game, and I have added the random events for the main area of the new planet, plus I started working on the second quest, finally getting something done in the process. I think that, once I add the shops, I should be okay with the new planet, at least for the moment (of course, I am still debating internally what shops should I put in and what items, but that's another problem). Once this is done, I'll go back to the additions I already made for Europa 4, and I'll see if I can polish/add the things I feel need some more work. To keep you busy in the meantime, we have another submission by chaosrevolver/encounterblitz in the fanart section (but he can't keep it alive all on his own, you must submit something, too!). Once I am done with this update, I was thinking of adding a poll for the following one: I might give you a list of "optional" goals I might have for said release, and based on the result of poll, I will add that one first, leaving the rest to further removed updates. I think it would be a nice way to involve you guys during the most boring (for you) part of the process: the long wait between two releases. Also, I didn't forget about my project of reviewing "proper" videogames with an MC-theme, and I will do the first review soon, (probably) within a week. If you guys have any questions about the game, what I am working on, etc., feel free to post your questions here. Sometimes I wonder if I am to forthcoming or too buttoned up, so if you have any complaints about how I handle the feedback I give you, leave a comment, I might try to address any shortcomings you can think of.

"So, what have you been doing lately? We are all SO interested!"

Meh! Not much. I took a vacation from the game basically, which actually helped me find some inspiration for what to do next. I took a break also because I had an exam today, and I had to study (it didn't go well, and as usual, I am depressed, now). Now that I am reinvigorated from the break (minus the depression), I might restart working on the game, with more energy, and possibly, less saturated fats. Or something... Anyway, Things should move back on their tracks, and everyone should be happy! As a side note, I actually wrote down the random events for the new planet, so I ended up doing something, after all. It shouldn't take long to put them in the game. I am more concerned about what stores I should add, right now. This kind of things always take some careful planning, because I need new items with several attributes (they must be different from what's currently available, balanced, and somewhat in line with the current pool of money available to the players, and possibly fit the theme of the planet, if there is one), and at least a few clerks for the shops (though some might be automated, just because sci-fi). Once I add the random events, the shops and the second quest (I have plans for all of these things), I might go back to what I added on Europa 4, polish a few things, and see if it might be about time to make a new release. And, most importantly, there is a new image in the fanart gallery, go check it out!

We all like status updates and fanart... Not necessarily in this order

Well, well, well. I have been doing a decent job on the game lately, adding new things and improving both old and new stuff, in ways that should make the game more enjoyable. I have also done most of the job on the map of the new planet (I think I can tell you now that the new planet will be Kantor, in case you were wondering), and I have started working on one of the quests that will be in this new planet (I think I will add an additional one, and then some small stuff to give the players something to do while you are there). There are still a lot of things I have to do from a long time (I should enhance the relationship system and the space travelling systems, follow up on some quests and events that are there since the beginning of the game, but that haven't got enough attention from me in a while, and other small stuff here and there), but doing all of it would take months, and I think there is enough content to keep you busy, within this new release. I have also decided to add a "fanart" page to the site (I got the idea after chaosrevolver, one of my betatesters, put together a 3d rendered picture for the game, and asked me if I wanted a version of the picture for the blog, too). Maybe I won't get many submissions, but I think it might be a fun thing to do. I will accept captioned pictures, drawing, and anything else your mind can conceive that is related to the TOTDC universe. Of course, I get the final word on what goes on the "fanart" page and what doesn't, but as long as it isn't an eldritch abomination, I'll probably be fine with it (if I don't upload your submission within a week, that probably means it isn't going to be uploaded at all... That, of course, implies that you'll be submitting something... You will, won't you?).
