Still working on the ending

Boy, that's taking a while. I finished the "general" part of the ending, where I sum up what happened around you, I did part of what relates to the crew, I added the code to determine if you get the "good" ending or if you get the "bitter-sweet" ending (only if you really mess it up) and wrote this path as well, but I still need to pick a song (or maybe 2, one for each ending), I wasted a lot of time on an image that didn't even turn out too well, and so the crew stuff (which includes Celeste as well) needs a few more hours before it's done.

I should finish it soon, and then I can go back to add what's still missing from the final quest, and then it's going to be the usual polish/test/polish/private beta/polish cycle. Still quite a lot of content. I was considering adding a puzzle to the final quest, but that might be too much, so I'll wait until the closed beta and get some feedback before messing around with extra-content there.

So, that's about it for this week, stay tuned to find out what happens next! ^_^

  1. I have 2 more months of free time... Should I be preparing myself for the close beta? XD

    1. 2 months of free time?! Wait, correction. 2 *more* months of free time??? Man... I really envy some country's time-off/vacation policies...

    2. You should always be prepared for the beta, so that when it finally arrives it feels like a gift, and you are less likely to criticize it. :p

  2. 2 questions for you MDQP.
    First, in Darenzia's quest I am pretty sure you can somehow convince Aria to have sex with you after you talk with her for some time, I could trigger the event once but now I can't for the love of god trigger it again no matter how many times I talk with her (she even gets mad at me because I get to close to Matt to increase the duration of my stay) maybe there is a bug that is preventing the event to trigger? I couldn't trigger it even with the "Smart" trait that seems to make Aria like you more;
Second question: what the hell is that quote you find in Neumann's quest in her boyfriend appartment? Salah-eh dhin something simething... Is it just a citation from anoter game or it has sone utility?
Thanks man keep up te good work.

    1. Oh? I didn't know that about Darenzia SQ. There's a lot there, I think, I've missed. Also, in the maid mission (the longer one from Verania).

It's been a while but wasn't that an obtuse clue for the space hamster lab mission, uh, iirc?

Request: Could we get some more encounters from people that Celeste has met or known in the past? Such as a followup to the very, very brief encounter of her friend in the Entertainment District... I want to see her again, lol. (And other fine ladies, in this or the next chapter... [Delete-Delete-Delete] Lol! My suggested list of actors/actresses/characters was getting long, hahaha. Maybe just add more variety of ethnicities/species/parasitic/symbiotic? After all, it's a big galaxy out there.

      I give out free hugs!

    2. Let's see... Things you need to know about that quest:

Some people hate each other, and making friends with their "enemies" makes it harder to achive a friendship with them (while the message is repeated, though, you just get a flat drop once). If you befriend her while being smart, 3 times should suffice, while 4 times are needed if you are not smart. Befriending Matt should translate in an extra interaction in both cases.

I am sorry, what would be the clue?

Most returning encounters are planned for chapter 2, I am afraid. The main problem with adding characters is also finding pictures I like, that can be a limiting factor, especially if they are supposed to get it on with Celeste.

    3. I almost forgot: Salah-eh Dinn is just an obscure reference to Broken Sword, a game I really love.

    4. Well at this point I am totally sure that Aria is bugged. No matter how many times I befreind her, the event never triggers. I can befreind every other character of the quest speaking with them 3 or 4 times except for Aria. I even used the travel sphere to get back to the quest after failing so I could keep talking with Aria but it didn't work. Maybe you should look at it yourself to check if there actually is a bug or is it just me being dumb.

    5. Awww, damn, you are right, the download version is bugged, and checks Kagney's value, instead. Well, on the plus side, you should be able to get both if you just work on Kagney. For some reason the bug is not present in my current version, so I either didn't upload the latest fix at the time, or fixed it later and didn't think it was important enough to make a new version for it.

      Sorry about that. :(

  3. So, MDQP, question involving the travel sphere.

I've played every update of the game from like 0.7 or so, so I've seen all the content and explored every path and bad end in it so far. Are you going to leave the travel sphere in the game for people to use to 'skip past' content they've already completed, change it to a "go to this part of the main story" button (possibly by removing some of the more cheaty debug features), or just take it out fully.

    1. The travel sphere is just a testing tool for me. Since people kept asking me to keep it available, I did, but that's all I am willing to do. It will remain available, and I will keep recommending not to use it, as it can break the game's logic, and generally ruins the experience (yes, I dare to suggest my view for the game is the best one! XD XD XD). I am not too keen on providing full "skip" functionality, as it is a decent amount of work, if you want to do it right, and it doesn't really make the game better.
