New update!

Sorry for the prolonged absence, my break lasted longer than I thought, and 2 days without internet slowed me down a bit. Still I have a new release for you guys, that should finally fix all the bugs (I hope :p):

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/Tales%20of%20the%20Drunken%20Cowboy%20-%20Chapter%201%200.8h.rag

web version:

http://mdqp.nachtwolf.at/TOTDC%200.8h.zip

There are also some minor additions to the game. I wouldn't start a new playthrough just to see them, but if you were already planning on doing so, this might give you something more to look forward to, namely:

Kantor's beach now has 4 random events and 1 non-random scene;

Gellon now has at least some more stuff, if you go visit him to his office after the first time (nothing big, but I believe one of the benefits is quite nice);

3 more scenes that "lock" you into submission, if you have 0 mental resistance (those are changes to old scenes, namely one where you work as a waitress, a random event in the Red Light District, and the one that involves being sexy to distract Mr. Nice Guy's guard);

This should also be the last release for this update, so I am going to work on the 0.9 version, from now on.

As always, I might be forgetting something, but I believe this should be it for the game, at least for now.
Today I am just going to recommend a manga, instead of an anime (I think there is an animated version, but I have no idea if it's translated or not. Also, I am more prepared on manga anyway,so...): this week you should read Kurozuka, a nice, gruesome story about vampires. It's kind of interesting, because it starts in ancient japan, but it quickly ends up in the future, mixing vampires and sci-fi in a nice way. I don't want to spoil the plot too much, but I believe the story manages to be dark and gripping, even if the sci-fi elements tend to get a little out of hand to the author, I feel (it's hard to really have any solid ground for your story, when you mix fantasy and sci-fi everything is fair game, but I still think style over substance is a problem, in certain sections).

And this is all for this week. As always, feel free to ask me anything in the comments, and report bugs as well. Have fun! ^_^

    1. Eh-eh. I guess I picked the right spot to start with, then. :)

  2. Went to look at the waitress scene at 0 Mental resistance and it seems to be broken. I get two options when I click either 'I need to go with her' It just says "I need to go with her" and nothing else happens except she disappears. If you walk into the boss' office then, you can't talk to him and it won't let you leave.

    1. Yup, apparently I forgot to save the last change I made to this scene. It's fixed now, and even if I don't like the idea too much, I'll have to probably release a new version soon, that's a really nasty bug, I can't let it be.

  3. Offline version doesn't work correctly :/ tried to play it and when I tried to fight the mob boos in the very beginning I couldn't do anything, combat was never started. Thank you so much for creating an offline version :)

    1. Oh, damn it! The web version always had problems, but it used to at least be serviceable, up to a point. Unfortunately, that's a problem with RAGS, nothing I can do about it, other than report the issue to its author.

    2. Actually the problem is with all fights, engaging in combat doesn't make the choices appear, so you're just stuck. Thought that might help.

    3. A friend of mine sent me a PM with a way to fix the fights, but he also told me there are other issues. I should probably take down the web version again, it sounds too borked at the moment, but we'll see.

      Thanks for the report, though! By the way, if you have multiple browsers, you might want to try different ones, I believe it had different degrees of compatibility based on the browser you use.

  4. hi.
    Well I want to say a few words about your game in general....mb there is a topic somewhere for it but I wasn't able to find it....so I would write right here))
    First of all your game is rly awesome! For sure it is the best thing I have played on rags.I haven't reached the end....may be I haven't reached even middle of it (don't know)) but I rly like it even now)
    Second...u have a character in your game Darenzia Kasparov....well I believe it isn't right...surname "Kasparov" is for male only. for a female gender it would be right "Kasparova". I quess it is possible that such mistake was made on purpose but anyhow...I just wanted to tell this to u)

    P.S. Thanks u very much for the work u have made)
    P.P.S. English is not my home language...so....I quess there are some mistakes in this message....sorry for them.

    1. Hi there!

      I am happy to hear you like my game so much. :)

      The game isn't finished yet, so maybe you did reach the end of the current content.

      You are not the first one to bring up the "Kasparov/Kasparova" thing, and I can only tell you that you are right, it's done on purpose... You will find out, once I add that part to the game. :D

      No need to thank me, I like making the game. ^_^

      English isn't my first language as well, so don't worry about it.

  5. Will there be a way to influence your companions execpt relationship, perhaps in a little evil way? For example that you can keep the mysterious package with the yellow powder on use it on your companions or Jane on Celeste?

    1. There aren't any plans to do that, mainly because Celeste is one of the good guys (even if I give some leeway to players, she isn't an evil person) and it would be hard to track all the possible changes/write the appropriate dialogues (I mean, if there aren't meaningful changes, then giving the players the option isn't really interesting, anyway).

  6. Not sure if it's just me or what, but the captions don't seem to be working. For instance, blahblahblahblah doesn't show up in bold. Just shows up like that. Same with words that are color coded. They're all the same, just with the additional [/c] behind them and [c]128, number, number in front.

    1. Sorry for the late response. Are you using the 2.4.14 version of rags? That's the one required to run the game properly. You can find a link on the right side of the blog, if you need it. Tell me if you get the problem even with the right version.

  7. Started a new game and am now finding that RAGS crashes when I try to leave Alexis apartment to do the quest, "A Dish Best Served Cold". Tried three times and have had it crash every one.

    1. Are you the same anonymous of the above comment? Anyway, same question: what RAGS version do you have? I never heard of this bug before. If you have the correct version, could you send me the save file?

  8. Here be words of encouragement, appreciation, and wishes for profits! (in place of, well, real profits, since I'm poor :c )

    1. That's good enough for me! :) Encouragement is always nice, and it helps me push forward whenever I am in a slump, and even if I don't always reply to thank everyone that does that, it is something I really appreciate.

  9. What are your plans for having Celeste take an interest in the submissive lifestyle on her dates with Piper?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have plans to have Celeste become more and more submissive if she dates Malena and gives in to her, but I feel like with Piper such an option shouldn't be available, and you should actually get a chance to make Piper more independant, maybe.

      Delete
    2. The Malena path is probably my favorite one at the moment. Does it currently end with Malena explaining about her plans to enslave Celeste or is there someway to advance it further? If you wanted to do this with Piper you'd probably need to teach her how to become dominant (trading places) or you could just have Piper make you just like her to bring back to Titty Twister.

    3. It ends with the scene where she describes to Celeste how she would like to try the bondage gear on her, yes.

      The relationship with Piper will more likely end up being somewhat balanced (if you put some effort in it) or she will kind of depend on you for the most part, at least this is how I planned it so far.
