Did I mention dating Piper?

Because that's totally what you'll have to do, after I spent so much time working on it! I have added 3 possible dates with Piper, and I believe they have come out decently enough. I still have two scenes to add, but it should be slightly easier, since I already took care of setting up the beginning for one of them, and the last one should be a pretty straightforward affair. This probably means that next week there is going to be a "private release", to let the testers get on par with the new content, and possibly kill some bugs. After that, it might be time to work on the main quest once more. This should bring us really close to the actual ending of  chapter 1, although the game would still miss the final act, the resolution, and all the other side content before that, so there is still a lot of work to do.

It should be exciting enough for me to go back on the main quest, hopefully I'll have some good ideas for the puzzles! ^_^

And now let's have a round of applause for our next anime intro/review pair of the week! On the top of our chart(?) today, we find: ... ... ... *suspence* ... ... ...  Captain Harlock!

I listened to the Japanese, the italian and the english version of the intro... I like them all, damn it!

Captain Harlock is (to quote wikipedia) "the archetypical romantic hero, a space pirate with an individualist philosophy of life". To me as kid, he was (and probably still is) a "really cool guy with an eyepatch, captain of an amazing space ship, who fought the bad guys". He is (like all pirates who are protagonist of a manga/anime) a pirate because he rebelled against totalitarian regimes, and fought oppression wherever he found it (which means pretty much everywhere, since his universe is kind of grim), and just wanted to be free. It is classic in every sense of the word, which means both good and bad things, but I still recommend it, because this is my blog, so I don't have to make sense (not true, please get mad at me if I don't make sense at all, that is a very bad thing to do, and possibly a sign that I am going senile).

In all seriousness, I think it's worthy of your time, as long as you are passionate about anime, and it really is a classic so there are no excuses not to watch it.

This is it for the week, this is mdqp, signing out! Until next time!

  1. You should've listened to the french version. This is the 84 edition full of disco laser guns for your enjoyment. In France and Quebec Harlock was named Albator; go figure!

    1. Well, over the years we have got the weirdest name changes, especially for anime, so I am not too surprised they went from Harlock to Albator (I heard it was due to the name being too similar to a character in TinTin, Captain Haddock, could that be true?). ^_^

It's a very "80's" theme, to say the least. :D

    2. It might be, TinTin partner is his adventures is named Captain Haddock, but phonetically they aren't that similar...
Ad-Ock vs Al-ba-tor... then again nothing surprises me when it comes to translation lol. Grandizer to Goldorak pfff
Wanwan sanjushi to Dogtanien and the Muskehounds to simply Les Trois Mousquetaire in french. Still, brings back many fond memories :)
btw when do get a chance to maybe beta test this new dating Piper series ^^

    3. What I meant is that Harlock is similar to Haddock, that's why they changed Harlock into into Albator, sorry if I wasn't clear.

I have enough testers as it is, no openings at the moment, you'll have to wait the public release. ;p

    4. No, I got what you meant, I just thought it was somewhat farfetched, but it's a better reason than none at all.

    5. Well, I wouldn't put it past them, if they are anything like the guys in Italy who thought about changing a character's name from Yamcha to Yamco (no other reason than the fact that it was supposed to sound more "Italian", I guess... Little known fact, it doesn't achieve that at all!).

    6. mort de rire, yeah I guess you have a point. Still always funny though, my girlfriend studies translation systems and the amount of post-editing done on work to make it "more agreable" to communities is absurd. They call it localisation and it's quite practical in certain instances, but it's also very debasing. Walt Disney studios is a great example, changing the words katana to sword or samurai to warrior in Mononoke Hime. "The public won't understand," they said... "Well let them learn some new words while they're being entertained," I say. No reason not to associate learning and pleasure ^^

    7. It's just silly, nobody gets confused by names, there already weird, unusual names in every culture, foreign ones aren't going to make people uncomfortable by virtue of being less common.

It also promotes cultural isolation, to a lesser degree, which is flat out bad.

  2. Moar! ;D
...man, I don't even remember what my handle was before when I used to post here and there. Well, anyway, I just want to say that all of this sounds great to me and when you mentioned the Capt. well, I literally yelled out "Captain Harlock! Harlock!" which, incidentally, caused someone to drop her taco salad as she was walking down the hallway. (Some profanities, doors slamming, and... other things happened soon after.) *Rubs a bruised arm...*

    Have a great week! :)

  3. Well, i don't think i'll ever go on this dates. No, i like Piper but i like her being submissive (i visit her much in brothel). But when she became equal i only visit her one time in her room and then forgot about and start to build relationship with Darenzia.

Anyway, hope to see this update soon - maybe there is more nice content rather than this dates.

    1. Well, during the dates with Piper, you'll get a chance to push her toward independence, keep her as she is, or remain so fascinated by her that you follow in her footsteps (the last choice will of course result in a bad end, on the long run). I wasn't sure I wanted to do it this way, but I feel this is probably the best way to give players some choices which might matter to them.

Also, I might add another submissive to the brothel, which I assume you will like, once I work her in. ^_^

There is more than just dating, don't worry about it! ;)
