Deploying status update in 3,2,1...

So, here we are with our weekly tales of my laziness! I actually did something this week, I am about halfway through the new quest, and I have fixed and improved a few things behind the scenes here and there.

I probably shouldn't waste too much time on the old stuff, but since I had started creating this game with the free version of RAGS, there are parts of the game that run on some very stupid piece of code (since I had to work within the limitations of that version), and I always end up trying to streamline it a bit, when I have the time. Anyway, the quest has moved along too, so I can't really complain, I guess.

I also got 10 euros as a donation from I.L. (thank you very much for it, I'll try not to burn it on something stupid, as I have a tendency to do... ^_^), so my program to secure the funds for creating an army of minions and use it to conquer the world is now complete. It has been a pretty badass week, all in all! ;p

Following our incredibly long (3 weeks) tradition, here it is another video-anime-intro-distracting-thingy (this time, we go a little closer to home, and show the intro of Cowboy Bebop, which inspired my game a great deal, beyond the obvious title reference):

Damn, I love that song!

  1. Sounds like you did a lot for a week of laziness ^.^

Love what I've played of this game and will be supporting you if I'm ever not living paycheck to paycheck.

Thanks for all your hard work.

    1. Well, I could have probably done more, but it wasn't all that bad, I guess (all my weeks are made out of laziness, though, and this was no exception ^_^).

Knowing you like the game is already a good support, don't worry about throwing money at my general direction, if you need it. ;)

    2. Well I was just about to donate this bundle of crisp bills I had laying about but I guess I could burn it or something.

      Maybe a new diamond pony?

I suppose settling with thanks for the awesome game and all is enough then. ;s

    3. Well, I said "if you need it". I am perfectly fine with receiving your money, if the alternatives are burning it or buying a diamond pony (somehow, I imagine diamond ponies are actually dangereous and would rule the world, given enough time).

It's still perfectly fine to send me thanks, though, I appreciate them just as well. :D

also what can you do with money - buy food? pff

A joke, especially a bad one, is a gift that keeps on giving. :)

  2. I agree with troque, you do amazing work with this game. Also, I have to ask, what music do you use in the game? I know there's a jazzy LoZ tube for the entertainment district, while downtown has ( what sounds like) the Deus ex theme.

    1. 90% is from OCRemix. They revisit tunes from various videogames, mainly old ones. The artists there a pretty awesome, and I feel guilty every time I use one of their tracks without asking for their consent (my whole game designing experience is a huge guilty trip, basically -_-).

I just browse the various tracks, searching for ones that fit the feeling I want some areas of the game to give off. Unfortunately, I have to cut them short, or the game would quickly become huge.

  4. "The path of the horny man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the puritan and the tyranny of overpriced porn. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good gameplay, shepherds the lazy through the valley of the interwebz. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of quality .JPEG's. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to bore, and deny my brothers their well desirved smut. And you will know I am the Mdqp when I lay my obscure anime upon thee."

    1. :D :D :D

That's something close to what I had in mind.

The tag over there is also a very weird and roundabout spoiler for one of the characters in the new quest I am working on right now, although I changed the quest a little over the time, and the tag is now slightly less significant.

Oh well, you'll see it when I finally have another public release, whenever that happens. ;P

  5. Great game with a really interesting story, keep up the good work!

If there is one suggestion I could make it would be to get rid of some of the "Game Over rape" endings. Getting punished for trying to explore everything in the game is rather frustrating.
The two most extreme examples are the theater hypnosis game over and the "Master's slave" game over for doing too many hyperspace jumps with 0 mental resistance.

Because of the last one I would be stuck right now without using the Travel sphere to cheat.

    1. Thanks, I'll try to do just that! :D

I don't think I am going to add more "dead-ends", where once you trigger a certain situation you are bound to lose, but the way the game is built, I can't get Celeste enslaved and not end the game, so whenever the sexy meets the mind control, that's usually going to have a bad end.

The hypnotist should be a one-time kind of deal (I might take inspiration from it, and make some "extended endings" where you play for a short while as a slave, before the game stops, but nothing that will be sprung by surprise on the players).

As for the "Master's slave" ending, that's kind of the driving point of the game, and it's something I can't really remove from it. The game is still a work in progress, so I will probably balance things out in order for it to not be too annoying, but it will be something players will have to deal with, if they want to go as slutty as possible.
