Done, done and done!

Well, that's all for today's status up... Oh wait, I guess you want some more details, after all. :p

I did my own playthrough for the main quest, and fixed all the bugs I found (I think it should be all fixed now, but we'll see once the game reaches my beta-testers, probably next week). I also noticed I had forgotten to write a whole scene, and added it to the game, too. Then I started working on some more stuff, because I felt I might as well give something more substantial to the testers to see, adding a new character, 3 new items, a new random event, and expanding an old random event (in case you are wondering, now there is finally a proper follow up to the groper encounter on the monorail, I guess this one will make a few people happy! ^_^).

I did some more stuff, but it was mostly behind the scenes, as I noticed some really dumb coding choices I made when implementing the random events for the first time. I could probably improve them even further, but I wouldn't want to spend too much time on it (since they work, it's not exactly a priority to me).

I believe next week I'll give the closed beta to the testers, once I finish all the random events for Verania, and maybe add a bit more side-content to it.

By the way, once I announce the closed-beta, if someone that was expecting to receive it doesn't, please contact me. The changes to the Hypnopics collective forum, kind of messed up my contact list. I hope I have properly put everything back in place, but you never know... -_-

In other news, I am now 50 euros richer, thanks to M. H.! As always, I am impressed by your generosity, it's amazing.

This is everything for this week. Hopefully, next week we'll be discussing the lack of bugs in my closed beta! ^_^

    1. Do you mean you want more frequent releases?

Considering the nature of the game, I don't think that would be a good idea. You'd end up playing 95% of the same old game, with just a few new bits in between. I would also waste more time in testing and bugfixing, since I would need to contact the testers, and wait for their reports more often, and sometimes they just don't have the time to answer back quickly.

I believe it would also become a bit boring, since the game doesn't have stat-building, management or other gameplay mechanics that could keep you busy over a long period of time.

    2. You've got a point there, but if you need help with the bugs you could ask all of us to help you...

    3. Don't worry, the beta-testers do a pretty good job at it (they are really great). With my current schedule, beta-testing only takes away some time before the public release, because I can keep working on other stuff during the testing of the closed betas (which I couldn't do if each of those closed betas had to be an actual release, as that would force me to not add content, otherwise that would need to be tested too, and so on and so forth...).

  2. A follow-up to the groper encounter?!?!

I'm dying to see what you've been up to!

    1. Eh, eh. A lot of people suggested something similar to what I had already planned for the encounter, so I thought I might as well do it now, and make everyone happy (and also keep a lot of people speculating about how the encounter might work out... ^_^).

  4. I think we all are looking toward release ^^

(i just hope my dream of more Virtual Reality thingies came true).
If not, then till the next one, and then till the next one.
    And so on on :P
(I'm mega patient if it comes to creating, I know myself of this)

Literally, I Love You mdqp :*
This is so far the best game I played in rags.

    1. The idea is to add at least 1-2 more VR modules to the game, for the next release. Of course it's still a bit early to be sure of what will actually end up in it, but I am fairly sure they should make it, since I probably won't create complex scenes, and as such they'll be relatively easy to code.

    1. Release the hounds! (that's what you meant, right? :D)

I am not sure this is the best RAGS game out there, but I certainly don't mind people telling me that it is! XD XD XD

  6. Your game is so good you are already an inspiration for other game makers.

    1. Yeah, at least a few persons told me that, and it made me feel pretty awesome. :)

It might just be that I did something new, compared to other RAGS games, and that's what drew a lot of attention to it. I mean, I know I could do a lot better, but I had to cut corners because I don't have enough time to work on the game (I probably spend too much time on it as it is already).

I also should have done some different design choices early on, but now it's too late to go back on those.

Then again, it's hard being objective when it's something I made, so it might be better than what I think it is. :p

    2. Or it could be that you inspire goodwill by acting like you're an actual person instead of demanding respect or simply money grubbing,
game being nice doesn't hurt either.

Well that or you know - mind control.

    3. I am pretty sure it's not mind control, because if I had a machine that did that, I would be too tempted to try it on me...

Of course, I might already be a slave, and I would be actually recruiting for my Overlords, in which case everything is cool, I guess. ^_^

My game is nice, but if wishes were horses, I'd have a stable named after it. There are so many things I would like to do with the game, and so little time.

    4. On the other hand you could have all the time in the world and no idea what to do with it so don't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. :)

    5. But I am sure I would never run out of things to do! ;p

Lack of time is kind of an obsession of mine: during my teens I suffered from insomnia because of it (I kept waking up early and was unable to fall asleep until late, because I couldn't shake the feeling that sleeping was a huge waste of time), so that's more of a personal issue I have, that I tend to project on everything I do.

    6. "...during my teens..."

Well I for one am glad you decided to use your "ripe golden age" for creating a nice game like this.

Now if all the dirty old men out there were half as productive as you.. :D

As for the sleeping part that's just a plot to get us to buy beds from IKEA!
(me hitting a literal wall some twenty+ hours is just a coincidence forsure) ;)

    7. Hey, I am going to be 27 this year! I am not that old (although I do feel like an old man, more often than not... :D)!

I am not sure how IKEA got into the equation, but why the hell not? Let's go buy some beds (incidentally, do you think they might sell mind control equipment, too?)!

    8. Personally I'll never be an old man. To me, old age is always 15 years older than I am,
although I get the occasional urge to shout at those darn kids and their hippity-rap music now and then..

As for IKEA's evil mc program you be the judge of that! ;)
