Meanwhile, back at the batcave...

...I am actually doing something! Since last post, I sent a link for the closed beta to my beta-testers, and they are now getting to experience some of the new lovey-dovey interactions available. So, since I am waiting for them to get back to me with their feedback, I am doing my work on other things, and I am trying to finish one of the sidequests, namely, the one involving Jay Kendrick (I hope you'll recognize the name from the game, but he is the rich weirdo that is recruiting mercenaries for an unknown mission). Things are going fine, for now, and I have already added the whole introduction scene to the second part of the quest, and the picture hunting is going fine, too (I am only having trouble with one specific picture, because I need it for a new gameplay gimmick, and it has to meet certain requirements). Half of the map is planned, too, and I have already a good idea of what the choices available to the players will be.



I must admit I needed this break from the relationship arc, and get to work on something that has more certain ground under it (I am taking a few stabs in the dark with the romances, so I feel less confident on what I can or I can't do). This quest was already well defined in my mind, so I had the opportunity to make some quick advancements there, and I hope to wrap this up within a week or two.

As a side note, I am wondering if you guys are interested in knowing what my next projects might be, even though there is still a long way to go before TOTDC is done. If you are interested, just tell me so in the comments, and if there are enough people interested, I might write a post to let you know some of the ideas I have for the next game (I actually have a lot of ideas, and I already have a good grasp on the stories and the gameplay mechanics that will be part of those games, but some of those will never see the light of the day, as I can't possibly work on all of them, so I will name just the 2-3 projects that are more likely to become a real thing).

    1. It's not like I wasn't feeling good, it's just that I am having a hard time thinking about a good way to deal with crossovers in the romances (cheating, basically). I think that, in the end, I might drop the option, as it is really a lot of work (especially for the long-term consequences), and the reward is, well, nothing: the players would simply get punished for their behaviour, so other than giving the illusion of freedom to the players, it wouldn't add anything to the game.

      If I get some more people telling me they are interested, I will share some of the ideas. I want to make the blog more interesting, so I am willing to speak about pretty much anything, as long as I know there are enough people interested in it. I don't want to bore anyone with my ramblings... :p

    just as the previous poster iam interested in your new and hopefully awesome game, even if TOTDC isnt finished.

    This kind of teasers are always waking up my imagination and fantasy =)

    1. As I said above, as long as some other people show interest, I am sure to make a post about my plans.

      I am currently wondering if my next project should be more "sexy", and slightly more mindless, or if I should follow the TOTDC trail, and keep it slightly more serious (under all the jokes, TOTDC isn't exactly silly, the characters are usually deeper than what might seem at a first glance, and several plots and sub-plots tackle mature issues, even if I tried to keep a light-hearted approach, overall).

    2. In my opinion, one of the major advantages of TOTDC in comparison to other games of this type (Rough Landing 1 and 2 for example) is its well written and dense story.

      If youre planning on confronting the player with more "sexy" choices and/or encounters i wouldnt say no either, but the main aim of this game is to entertain the player. If i want to view naked woman, i would rather watch some porn instead of playing a ( awesome ) game :)

Hey, I am glad to hear you find TOTDC a well written and dense story! :D I could probably do better, but an erotic story with an MC theme has to rely on some inevitable contrivances, that make it hard to keep the whole thing believable and compelling at the same time, so I have been relying heavily on the characters, to develop the narrative. I feel like I created some sort of disconnect between the Mc/erotic part and the characters/narrative part, though, and that's part of the reason that might push me toward another direction next time.

      I won't comment on the second half, because I think I am going to write about the ideas in a post soon (3 comments are already enough to put me into motion, since I rarely get any comments at all... >_<), so you'll have a more clear image of what I mean, once you can compare the general plans I have for those games. ;)
